About YMCA Nagercoil
Helping communities
grow stronger together
YMCA Nagercoil, founded in 1881 by Rev. Dr. James Duthie, is one of the earliest YMCAs in India and holds a distinguished national legacy. Since its inception, it has focused on the holistic development of individuals through indoor and outdoor activities like table tennis, chess, karate, and carrom, along with programmes that enrich the mind, body, and spirit.
The 1972 Hostel Building, dedicated to Mr. C. K. Dhas, continues to offer concessional accommodation to the needy, reflecting YMCA’s spirit of service.Over the decades, many eminent leaders have strengthened its mission through dedicated service.
Community activities such as summer camps, spiritual fellowships, and career counseling keep the YMCA vibrant and people-centered. In 1981, the foundation stone for the Centenary Building was laid, marking another milestone in YMCA Nagercoil’s commitment to inclusive growth and social upliftment.
